US ARMY -MICHIGAN NATIONAL GUARD CONDUCTS CARDIAC TESTS FOR AFL PERSONNEL AND MAKES DONATIONS

BARCLAY TRAINING CENTER, MONROVIA- 23 FEBRUARY 2023: The United States Army, Michigan National Guard conducted Cardiac Medical Readiness checks on personnel of the Armed Forces of Liberia at the 14 Military Hospital on 23 February 2023.

The tests were administered to assess the Cardio-Respiratory functions of the Personnel as well as to provide best practices and devise a way forward to improve processes and procedures to carry out checks at the 14 Military Hospital.

It also prepares the AFL for future standardized procedures to conduct annual Physical Heath Assessments in the AFL to address heart health.

Heart health is extremely important, and so is basic medical readiness, so the team helped screen hundreds of AFL soldiers with a regular check-up on their blood pressure, and a check on their heart health using the EKG machine.

Meanwhile, the US Army- Michigan National Guard also donated assorted medical items to the 14 Military Hospital.

The Michigan National Guard (MNG) and the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) have a proud and long-standing partnership established in 2009 through the State Partnership Program.

The partnership improves the AFL’s capabilities by regularly exchanging best practices and providing opportunities to participate in multinational exercises via Michigan National Guard sponsorship.

We are proud of this partnership, which is just one excellent example of the depth of the U.S.-Liberia relationship.

As part of the ongoing training assessments and exchanges between the MING and the AFL, a team of medical professionals came to work with their Liberian counterparts at 14 Military Hospital to share best practices.
