‘’Be Committed To Duty’’ Defense Minister Cautions New Officials…

Defense Minister Hon. Daniel D. Ziankahn Jr. is calling on officials at the Ministry of Defense to be loyal and committed in the discharge of their respective functions so as to actualize government’s Pro-Poor’ agenda.

 

According to an MOD release, Minister Ziankahn urged officials appointed by President George Weah to the Ministry to see themselves as servants for those they supervise, and not as masters, stressing that servant leadership produce positive outcomes in any institution.

 

“I will encourage you to closely work with your staff so as to get the best out of them, see them as important and not just as under men in your respective departments,” Minister Ziankahn said.

 

The Minister encouraged newly appointed and confirmed officials to always cultivate the spirit of oneness at the ministry, adding that a united team will greatly impact the workings of the ministry.

 

Meanwhile, Minister Ziankahn added that catering to the welfare of the military will be a major priority during his administration.

 

“We are here because of the military, and must do all we can to have the men and women in arm focus on their mission by addressing their needs”, he indicated.

 

At the same time Defense Minister Daniel D. Zhankhan has encouraged officials at the Ministry of National Defense to manage their expectations on their new posts. He said expectation management was important as the government is in a formative stage.

 

President Weah has announced inheriting a broke government, as such the minister said all should work collectively in ensuring that the Weah-led administration is successful.

 

The meeting was attended by Hon.  T. Olandrus Dickson Deputy Minister for Administration, Hon. Ernest T. Varfee Deputy Minister for Operations, Hon. Mamie H. Pearson Assistant Minister for Administration, Hon. T. Augustine Larmin Assistant Minister for Operations Hon. Rudolp  F. Kolaco Sr. Assistant Minister for Coast Guard and Hon. Sam K. Collins Assistant Minister for Public Affairs.
