ARMED FORCES OF LIBERIA BIDS FAREWELL TO LT COL TRISH A BASILE OF THE US ARMY

BARCLAY TRAINING CENTER, MONROVIA- 20  MAY 2024: On 20 May 2024, the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) bid farewell to an outstanding Officer, Lt Col Trish A Basile of the United States Army for job well done while serving her tour of duty here in Liberia.

 

During a farewell ceremony held in the Chief of Staff’s Conference Room at AFL Headquarters, Brig Gen Forleh, Chief of Staff (COS) of the AFL, thanked Lt Col Basile for her hard work and mentioned that the AFL will miss her for everything she has done to bring the AFL to where it is today as an entity. The COS also wished her God’s blessing on her new assignment. He expressed hope that her replacement will do the same or even better, to take the AFL to another level. Finally, the COS extended his regards to Lt Col Trish Basile’s family.  

 

Speaking also at the farewell ceremony was the Honorable Minister of National Defense, Brig Gen Geraldine J George (Rtd), who praised Lt Col Basile for her exceptional services rendered to the AFL during her tour of duty in Liberia. “Let me use this opportunity to formally thank you for helping to make the AFL ‘A Force for Good’ with your numerous ideas, suggestions and pieces of advice while I was seated as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the AFL; on weekends you were always ready to assist in taking some decisions that better the AFL, and even now at the level of the Ministry of National Defense, you still pass by sometimes to render professional assistance,” the honorable Minister said.

 

Also making remarks at her farewell ceremony, Lt Col Trish A Basile thanked the AFL for providing her the opportunity to work with the AFL, and that she will greatly miss the smooth working relationship with the AFL and the Ministry of National of Defense which she enjoyed during her tour of duty in Liberia. 

 

Lt Col Trish Basile Insights into Liberia and political military affairs allowed her to form a strong relationship between the United States Department of Defense and the Armed Forces of Liberia.

 

She led the coordinated several pivotal events between the AFL and the US Department of Defense and supported multiple high-level significant events of strategic importance between the United States and Liberia, particularly the free, fair and peaceful 2023 General and Presidential Elections.

 

She coordinated with the Armed Forces of Liberia to ensure that the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Amb Linda Thomas Greenfield, had the opportunity to engage with the AFL Peacekeepers upon their return from Mali.

 

Lt Col Basile also coordinated a high-level visit of United States Generals from Capstone to meet with their AFL and MOD Counterparts.

 

Her coordination showcased the unique strength of the AFL and the Department of Defense Partnership.

 

Lt Col Basile tireless efforts to improve the relationship between the AFL and the Department of Defense reflect great credit for herself and the strength of the US-Liberia Military Relationship.
