ACTING DEFENSE MINISTER VISITS EGYPTIAN AMBASSADOR

In a bid to enhance bilateral defense cooperation between Liberia and Egypt, Brigadier General Geraldine Janet George (Retired), Acting Minister of Defense, on Thursday, March 28, 2024, paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Mr. Ahmed Abd El Azeem Zeinhom Abd El Shakour Farghaly, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, at the Egyptian Embassy.

 

During the visit, the Acting Defense Minister applauded the Egyptian Ambassador and praised the Egyptian Government for the level of existent relationship between the defense sectors of Liberia and Egypt.

 

The Minister appreciated the Egyptian Defense sector for the provision of slots in the area of military training, and proposed that more training slots be provided to further enhance the capacity of civilian staff and military personnel of Liberia’s defense sector.

 

“The training opportunities provided by Egypt, over the years, have help in building capacities of military personnel and civil servants of Liberia defense sector,” the Minister stressed. She further recommended other areas of bilateral defense corporation.

 

For his part, Ambassador Farghaly emphasized that Egypt will continue to remain a key bilateral partner to Liberia, highlighting Egypt’s provision of training opportunities to the Armed Forces of Liberia in various military occupational specialties.

 

He further congratulated the Acting Defense Minister for her preference to serve in the defense sector of Liberia and promised to provide her all the necessary support in enhancing her agenda for the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces of Liberia.
