Mr. Richard B. Kamara-Assistant Minister for Coast Guard Affairs 

Mr. Richard B. Kamara is a graduate of the University of Liberia with a BA degree in Sociology. Additionally, he holds a MA degree in International Development Management from the University of Bradford, UK, and MSc in Maritime Affairs from the World Maritime University, Sweden.

 

He also had the privilege through the Ministry of National Defense to attend numerous seminars, conferences and trainings, and obtained certificates in the following: Emerging Security Sector Leaders, Physical Security (Facility/Port), Security Sector Reform Ministry of National Defense Training Program, Civil-Military Coordination in Peace Operations, Peace Operations Specialized Training Certificate in Civilian Service, Peace Operations Specialized Training Certificate in Gender Awareness, and Implementation of the UN Security Council Resolutions on the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda in Africa.

 

Prior to his appointment as Assistant Minister of Coast Guard Affairs, Mr. Kamara served in various positions at the Ministry of National Defense including: Staff Analyst/ Facility Management, Department of Materiel, Acquisition, Logistics and Transport (DMALT); Facility Manager, (DMALT); Administrative Officer, Department of Coast Guard Affairs; Administrative Assistant to the Deputy Minister for Administration; Policy Analyst, Office of the Minister of National Defense; and Sr. Policy Analyst, Office of the Minister of National Defense.

 

 

His experiences in areas of Administration, Operations, Policy, Logistics, and Coast Guard Affairs at the Ministry of National Defense since 2007 have positioned him with the perspective that the Coast Guard plays a vital role in safeguarding our maritime interests, protecting our coastal and internal waters, and ensuring the safety and security of our nation.

 

Mr. Kamara comes committed to work tirelessly in supporting the Honorable Minister of Defense vision and mission for the men and women of the the Armed Forces of Liberia.
