BARCLAY TRAINING CENTER, MONROVIA- 16 AUGUST 2024: The Minister of National Defense, B/G. Geraldine J. George (Rtd) has praised the United States Government for its continued support to the Liberian Security Sector over the years, especially the Ministry of National Defense and the Armed Forces of Liberia.
The Minister, on behalf of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Liberia and President of the Republic of Liberia, Joseph Nyuma Boakai, expressed her profound thanks and gratitude to the Government and people of the United States of America for their numerous contributions toward the professionalization of the security sector of Liberia.
She also pleaded with the Government and people of the United States of America to continue their goodwill as she looks forward to building a resilient AFL that will continue to be a force for good which can be trusted by all Liberians at all times.
Minister George made these remarks when the newly inaugurated US Ambassador, Mark Toner, paid her a courtesy visit recently at her Barclay Training Center Office in Monrovia.
For his part, the new US Ambassador, Mark Toner said prior to his assignment, he served Liberia in the capacity as a Peace Corps Volunteer before the outbreak of the civil crisis. He lauded the Minister for the level of enthusiasm she brought to the job and the works she has done so far.
The Ambassador further thanked the Minister for the warmed reception accorded him and assured her of an enhanced-working relationship between the Government of Liberia and the Government of the United States of America. Ambassador Toner also pledged to seek more opportunities that will help strengthen the capacities of personnel of the Ministry of National Defense and Armed Forces of Liberia.
