Honorable Daniel Dee Ziankahn, Jr., became the first Liberian postwar Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia. He is one of Liberia’s most decorated retired senior military leaders. He holds several distinctions and is a practical, but rare leader that Liberia’s defense architecture needs at this time.
Minister Ziankahn holds a Master of Military Art and Science (MMAS)from theU.S Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, USA. Honorable Ziankahn acquired executive education from the HARVARD Kennedy School by attended the Senior Managers in Government and Senior Leaders in National and International Security courses. Besides, Minister Ziankahn gota bachelor degree– BBA in Business Management– from the A.M.E Zion University College, Liberia.
After completing the Initial Entry Training (IET) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) in Liberia, he was commissioned into the Armed Forces of Liberia in 2006. He then furthered his military knowledge by attending the Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course (BNCOC) and Officers Candidate School(OCS) in Liberia. The retired General, Minister Ziankahn, had his Basic Officer Leader Course II(BOLC II) and Infantry Basic Officer Course (IBOLC III) at Fort Benning, GA, United States of America. Also, Honorable Ziankahn had his Basic Airborne Course in Fort Benning, GA, United States of America. Progressively, this astute retired military leader attended the Armor Company Commander Course in the Arab Republic of Egypt and Junior Staff Course (JSC) at the Horton Academy in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
The retired Generalearned certificate in Public Sector Management (PSM), Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), University of Sierra Leone. He attended theSenior Staff Course ( Intermediate Level Education-ILE), Fort Leavenworth, KS, United States; and Advanced Training on Security Sector Reform, Rwanda Peace Academy(RPA), Rwanda.
Major General Ziankahn attended the following seminars and conferences: African Land Forces Summits (Kampala, Uganda and Arusha, Tanzania); African Endeavor on Communications, Duala, Cameroon; The Role of the African Military in the 21st Century, Kansas, USA; Humanitarian Disaster Responds, Abuja, Nigeria, ECOWAS Chiefs of Defense Staff conferences (Ghana, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Guinea Bissau and Stuttgart Germany, Tanzania, Senegal, Malawi, Liberia); Laws of War and Arms Conflict, Monrovia, Liberia.
