Brigadier General (Brig/Gen)Prince C. Johnson, III is an infantry officer in the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) who has served his country for over ten years and is currently serving as Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS), Headquarters, AFL. He was nominated by the President of Liberia and confirmed by the Senate on December 1, 2016.
He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant after completion of the Officer Candidate School (OCS) in 2007. He has held several positions within the AFL, Commanding General / 23rdBrigade Commander, Chief of Operations HQ AFL (ACOS J3), Deputy Assistant Chief of Operations HQ AFL (Dy ACOS J3), Chief of Logistics HQ AFL (ACOS J4), Military Assistant (MA) to the Minister of National Defense, Assistant Brigade Operations Officer S3, 2ndBattalion Executive Officer (XO), Company Commander and Platoon Commander.
Brig/Gen Johnson III has attended several military schools including the US Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC) in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas USA 2011/12; Infantry Mechanized Company Commander Course (MCCC) in Shijiazaugh Hebei Province, China 2010/11; Junior Staff Course (JSC) Horton Military Academy Freetown, Sierra Leone 2010; Infantry Young Office Course (YOC) at the Nigeria Army School of Infantry in Jaji Kaduna, Nigeria 2008.He has received the following awards, First Place Award Junior Staff Course (JSC) IMATT, Freetown, Sierra Leone; Best International Student Award-YOC, Jaji Kaduna, Nigeria; Distinguished Graduate Award-OCS, Monrovia, Liberia; and Best Leadership Award-Advance Individual Training (AIT), Monrovia, Liberia.
Brig/Gen Johnson III holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Management from the Institute for Public Administration and Management (IPAM)- University of Sierra Leone, Freetown 2010, a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Accounting from the United Methodist University(2004) and currently a student at the Kofi Anna Institute for Conflict Transformation (KAICT)Graduate School, University of Liberia.
In addition, he has completed the Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education for Senior Executives in National and International Security, August 2015 and both African Center for Strategic Studies (ACSS) Seminars in Senior Military Leadership and Managing Security Resources in Africa, June and November 2012 all in the USA. He is married with two sons.
